Nothing attracts attention like earrings that move. Dainty drops add a subtle romantic accent to any outfit. Petite leverbacks graze the tip of the ear lobe and discreetly catch the eye while longer, more dramatic styles—chandeliers and long thin stiletto drops add drop-dead drama for evening.

Drop earrings are most comfortable when they aren’t rigid but have joints along their length. The earrings should hang parallel to the ear, without tipping. If the design is curved or asymmetrical, a pair of earrings should mirror each other. If the earrings are long, you may find that leverbacks or wire hooks are more comfortable to wear than posts, which can’t pivot easily.

Since earrings are such an important accessory, it’s important to choose styles that complement your own individual beauty. Earrings should be in proportion to your facial features and figure type. Here are some basic guidelines:

• Petite women can wear big, airy shapes
but should avoid large heavy looks
• Large-size earrings make the nose appear less prominent
• Colorful gemstones brighten the complexion
• Long faces benefit from wider width earrings
• Full faces should avoid round shapes,
but benefit from oval or angular designs
• Drop earrings can accentuate a long neck
(or make a normal neck look long and lovely.)
